Amazon and BigCommerce Integration – How It Works

If you're an online retailer who is already selling on BigCommerce, you should consider integrating your storefront with Amazon. This article will walk you through the benefits, requirements, and steps for setting up the BigCommerce integration with Amazon.

Many BigCommerce customers are already selling on Amazon and expressing their enthusiasm for the marketplace’s simple interface and automated selling tools. The easy integration between Amazon and BigCommerce makes it possible to reach new online shoppers who use Amazon. By selling your products on both channels, you can build up your brand, increase traffic, grow sales, and gain more visibility on the web.

If you are a small business looking to grow your sales, it is important to take advantage of every possible sales channel. That's why more and more merchants are integrating their Amazon Marketplace account with their BigCommerce store.

What can you do with the BigCommerce Amazon integration?

Amazon is the world's largest marketplace, with over 310 million active users and millions of products. To compete in this massive ecosystem, merchants need to maximize their exposure to Amazon shoppers.

With the BigCommerce Amazon integration, merchants can easily connect their BigCommerce store to their seller account and sync inventory and orders across channels. This integration makes it easy for merchants to reach a wider audience on Amazon and sell more.

With the BigCommerce Amazon integration, merchants can:

  • Upload products from BigCommerce to your Amazon account
  • Sync product descriptions, pricing, and images
  • Update inventory levels across both platforms in real-time
  • Create orders from Amazon in BigCommerce
  • Make use of Amazon's extensive customer base

By using the BigCommerce Amazon integration, you'll be able to automatically update your product details across Amazon and BigCommerce whenever you make a change in either place.  BigCommerce Amazon Integration makes inventory management simple. Your BigCommerce store's inventory will immediately sync with Amazon once connected.

To properly run a business, your online store's inventory must be accurate at all times. This promotes sales, earnings, and customer satisfaction. Using BigCommerce to sell on Amazon reduces the chance of an order being canceled due to inventory concerns.

Using two platforms simultaneously typically makes it harder to modify product information such as the description, labels, name, etc., but BigCommerce Amazon integration actually saves you time.

Smaller merchants are urged to follow BigCommerce's guidelines. The integration would send all product details directly to Amazon from BigCommerce on a regular basis.

Suppose you're a larger distributor or an existing Amazon retailer. In that case, you should submit a specialist inventory to Amazon and then sync the pricing and quantity with BigCommerce Amazon Integration to have better control over the listings.

Setting up

The BigCommerce Amazon integration can be used by any size business. It's ideal for small businesses who want a way to easily sell on multiple channels and large companies that require a powerful way to manage products across many different sales channels.

It only takes a few clicks to get your BigCommerce Amazon integration up and running. If you have an existing BigCommerce store, the process to get started with the BigCommerce Amazon integration is easy! There are just three major steps:

1) Connect your store with Amazon Seller Central by logging into your Amazon account

2) Link your products from both stores so they are listed together in your dashboard (if you don't already have a product listed in one of the stores, you'll add it there now)

3) Choose which fields should be synced between both stores (e.g., price, title, description, etc.) and start selling.

Connecting your store

First and foremost, business owners must have an Amazon Seller Central account in order to use the Amazon integration with BigCommerce. You can proceed to the next step if you already have one. Sign up for a seller account at Amazon Seller Central if you haven't already done so.

You'll be asked to do the following by Amazon:

  • Double-check your business's name and address.
  • Enter a credit card that will allow you to pay your Seller Central membership fee on a monthly basis.
  • Verify your identity by looking at your phone or other electronic devices.
  • Set up tax records
  • Enter your preferred payment option so that Amazon may send funds directly to your bank account.

Additional steps may be necessary if your brand or product categories require more details.

Once you've created an Amazon account, go to your BigCommerce dashboard and click the Channel Manager icon to get started. Click where it says Amazon.

Within the section under "Set your default listing category," choose your category by clicking "Select Category." Click "Get Started," then "Connect to Amazon."

Click "Get Started," then "Connect to Amazon."

Finally, sign in to your Amazon selling account and agree the Amazon License Agreement. Your BigCommerce store is now connected to Amazon!

Using BigCommerce Amazon Integration, you can have your own online business up and running in about ten minutes.

Linking your products

Once your BigCommerce business has been integrated with Amazon, the next step is to choose which products from your store should be sold there.

In addition to the fact that your products will be offered on a slew of channels, Amazon differs from your standard website.  Therefore,  it is necessary for store owners to carefully pick and choose the products that will be offered.

Go to Product, then "View," and then click on the "Storefront" button next to the product you wish to add, and then select “Create Listing”. Amazon's newly updated product list should make it easier for you to control your products. All of the channels where your products are currently available will be listed in a column. This column will show all of the places where your products are currently available, their status (visible, pending, or rejected), and even any missteps that might keep them from being available on that channel.

To update, export, list, remove, or hide sold products in bulk, use the Bulk Actions menu in the product list's upper right corner.

Choose which fields should be synced

On the "Product Listing Details" page, you pick Amazon as your channel. Amazon product listings will automatically update the same information about your products that you have in your BigCommerce store, such as their name, brand, and price.

You can edit the description of your things to make them more appropriate for the Amazon marketplace if you desire. These modifications, of course, will only be available on Amazon, not BigCommerce.

Remember to save your changes. When you save a product, it appears as Pending in your Amazon store.

Once your listed products have been approved, the status of your listing will change from Pending to Active.

It can take up to 30 minutes for new listings to become visible to customers on Amazon. It can take up to a day with pictures.

A few notes when linking existing products:

  • Instead of creating a new listing, Amazon will identify existing BigCommerce products with the same SKU as the Amazon product and link them during the import.
  • Products that have variants can only be imported once.
  • If no weights are listed for the parent of a variant item, the weight of a variant will be used.

Next steps

You’ve integrated BigCommerce with Amazon, and linked your products, now what? Make sure to monitor your Amazon orders. A small Amazon logo should appear on your Orders page to indicate that these are Amazon purchases. When a consumer makes a purchase, their billing information will be displayed in the BigCommerce control panel.

Although Amazon does not divulge the actual email addresses of your customers, they share an anonymous email address, which allows you to contact users.

When shipping orders to Amazon, no changes can be made. Retailers can process refunds for customers through the Seller Central dashboard.

Next, you should review your customers’ orders. Once customers order anything, they’ll expect to be notified about the status of their order.

Customers will be notified via email of their Amazon purchases. Emails related to orders will be handled by Amazon. Store owners will have to create a shipment for each order. Your Amazon order status will be updated as soon as BigCommerce discovers that you have changed it.

How to optimize your listing

  • Amazon search engine standards dictate that you use a specific and custom, product title for your page in order to get the most out of your listing.
  • Make your product description more readable by changing the font and adding bullet points.
  • Amazon requires that the product description and pricing on items provided to them reflect the information on your website.

And that’s it! You’ve got free reign of how you want to run your BigCommerce and Amazon integration. One of the reasons Amazon has become such a wildly successful platform for online retailers is because they’ve perfected eCommerce page design to maximize sales.

By integrating BigCommerce with Amazon, you can unlock all of their sales-boosting features for your own site. The benefits include:

SEO-friendly URLs: Unlike many other shopping cart platforms, BigCommerce uses search engine-friendly URLs for your products and categories by default. This makes it easy to create an Amazon-style URL structure on your own website which will help improve your site’s rankings on Google and other search engines.

Product reviews: Product reviews are a great way to boost sales and improve customer loyalty. By integrating with Amazon, you can automatically import product reviews from Amazon onto your own website.

Product recommendations: While Amazon is known for recommending products based on past purchases, BigCommerce also uses machine learning to recommend products to your customers during their shopping journey. You can integrate BigCommerce with Amazon so that customers see personalized suggestions based on their past purchases regardless of whether they bought them from you or on another platform like eBay or Etsy.

Customer service tools: When customers have questions about any items in their order history, they can use the “Contact Seller” button to reach out directly through email

CONCLUSION

At the end of the day, integrating BigCommerce with Amazon will allow you to do a lot more when it comes to selling products. When combined, these systems make your life a lot easier and also enable you to sell more items. The days of struggling to run two different websites are over.

Whether you're a beginner starting out with both shopping cart options, transitioning from one to the other, or even a seasoned veteran selling on multiple platforms, this integration is worth looking into.
